One was they were afraid that it would cause a distraction to the students and the teachers. Another reason schools banned cell phones was because they were afraid that students would use them to cheat on tests. But now this is starting to change. More and more schools are starting to lift the cell phone ban. School boards are starting to realize that students don't just use their cell phones for txting. They also use them for internet access and for downloading videos and music. Maybe students can be more involved in their work if they get to use the technology that they are familiar with. At my level one field experience I have watched by kindergarten class work with the smart board. I couldn't believe how interactive these young children were with this new technology. It is a technological device that allows teachers to integrate technology into every lesson plan they teach. It also gives children of all ages the chance to use technology in the classroom.
